History of the TAYGRA

TAYGRA has been created in 1989 in Brazil by a former player of Capoeira.

The first idea was to realise a range of clothes & shoes for the players of Capoeira, one of the most popular & traditional sport in Brazil after Football. This sport has known those last years a real expansion worldwide, & a lot of mestres went abroad to teach the culture of Brazil trough their art.

The name TAYGRA comes from the Indian Tupi language & means "God the Son", or "Divine seed". The will of spreading the brandmark worldwide, under the benediction of God.

The confort of this sportswear, the look & the use for everyday's life or especially while practising sport, did that this way of clothing has become successfull worldwide, and not only in the area of sport, but also for everyone that want to wear relax clothes with a special remembrance to Brazil, country that might be the most popular in the world, because of all the good energy that it represents.

The sneakers from TAYGRA are the original sneakers for capoeira, martial arts & dance, but they went victim of their success the embassador of Brazilian culture, were adapted to all kind of use, for everybody. For those reasons quality has been the main point that has been developped so that the sneakers would be able to be exported.

We have developped new models, new materials totally washable, new soles, oriented the sneakers as a half-way between sport & fashion, confort & originality.

The TAYGRA can be used for sport indoors, dance, martial arts, aquasports, for confort use before & after intense sport that requires specifical shoes. And of course for an urban use : city walking, night partying, beach... as they are light & flexibles, it is really esay to cary them in a backpack, it is perfect for who is travelling.
